Sharpen Up

Being in this culture it’s hard to find people who are like minded. And oftentimes it feels like we are standing alone. But we aren’t alone. I mean of course He never leaves us or forsakes us so He is always with us. But I mean a friend Or family member that also longs to please God.

With this world being flipped upside down in what’s right and what’s wrong, it’s hard to find people who know God’s heart on certain topics.

God has blessed me so much with family who are like minded which I’m aware isn’t the case for most people.

God has also blessed me with friends that pour into my life as I seek first His kingdom for righteousness sake.

TIP: Gals it’s super important for you to evaluate your friendships. You attract what you are. Sooo if youre surrounded by worldly friends, it’s time to evaluate what it is you are doing to attract them.

Ok sorry, lets continue.

Its super important for us to surround ourselves with people who will tell us what we need to hear as well as uplift and encourage us to stay on course. To not grow weary in doing good. We need people in our lives that will sharpen us.

“The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:9, 17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Without being sharpened we become dull in our spirit and our walk with The Lord. We need to keep our sword sharp in us so when the enemy comes we are more than ready to fight. When we pull out our sword, it’s sharp and ready to pierce the darkness. Our friendships should be encouraging this sharpening. They should be saying “Girl keep on truckin!” “Girl, Gods got this and is in your circumstances!” “Girl, you are worth more than your compromise!”.

“Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We need friends and we need to BE the friend that sharpens. The one that leads people in wisdom to truly succeed. I know we want a pity party when things aren’t what we think we want but a true friend will line us up according to His word. NOT, “Yeah girl they should never treat you that way” .... blah blah blah.... victim mentality blah blah...

INSTEAD, “Girl this isn’t the perfect opportunity to forgive.” “Girl, in what way can YOU change?”

Another thing, we need friends that aren’t going to talk crude and rude!

We need to have friendships where the conversations glorify God.

“Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of his name. “They will be my people,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “On the day when I act in judgment, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child. Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.””

‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:16-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“The loose tongue of the godless spreads destruction; the common sense of the godly preserves them.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:9‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Our sovereign Lord is watching us and listening to all our conversations. He knows how much we long to chat girls! He gave us one another to continue the chat we had this morning with Him.

We need to be ALWAYS about the Father’s business! Come on Galfriends! Let‘s sharpen each other! Let’s build each other up in our most Holy Faith! Let’s edify one another! We need each other! NO MORE CADDY KATIES! (No offense to any Katies out there it just flowed in the moment)

Let’s stop being petty and help pick up the pieces of the gal sittin next to us!

Go!

Sharpen!
